PCR positive results after isolation
I don't want to get this involved in the other Cocid thread.

Has anyone had a POSITIVE Result after being fully recovered ie over 10 days after infection or complete end of the first isolation rules.
Some reports of people still being positive on the PCR for weeks after.
It's all unclear tbh

"It's all unclear"

Yes, it is. You can test positive for a while after recovery, or it can take a few days.

For me, it was exactly a week after I tested positive for the first time, to when I tested negative.

It's all a bit random.

Re: PCR positive results after isolation
daveyg a PCR can detect it up to 90 days after.

Which is why they're worthless I was told not to use one for 90 days by track and trace

I don't know abut test results, but I've still got symptoms (albeit milder) more than a fortnight after coming down with Covid. Maybe an isolated, atypical case, but seems that this variant continues for longer than the original one for some people.

Re: PCR positive results after isolation
I think the advice is not to take a PCR as you are likely to still test positive for a good while as the test is ultra sensitive and detects any trace of the virus still left.
A lateral flow test is used on days 6 & 7 currently to release you back from isolation with negative tests on both days giving the green light.
If still postive on lateral flow after this 10 days is the limit to the self isolation rules.

Re: PCR positive results after isolation
Because I have to have a procedure done at hospital (Endoscopy? I was required to get a PCR test, it came back positive even though I was asymptomatic and now am required to self isolate for 10 days. Now do I have to get tested again after 10 days or not and how do I arrange for those tests?

Thank you, please

Coffee

I'm the same - some symptoms (fatigue and headaches) hanging on three weeks after testing positive.

Same as coffee for me as well.

I tested negative after 10 days on Tuesday but still have symptoms mainly sinus pains and headaches plus around 4pm I just crash and have to have a little nap.

Annoying blighter this Covid.

You can test positive for up to 12 weeks after infection.

Re: PCR positive results after isolation
You can have residual symptoms after a heavy cold or the flu for weeks afterwards.
Covid is no different but for some reason the Long Covid condition gets used by people who never needed hospital treatment, let alone a stay in ICU.

I'd like to see how many who claim to have Long Covid have also 'had' ME...........

My guess is that a lot of them will work in the public sector too.

For fuck sake, are you suggesting that people who legitimately have Covid are just work shy?

I don't work in the public sector but my doctor has said that I have a classic case of long covid.

Some days I feel relatively okay and sometimes I sleep for about fifteen hours. That's never happened in my whole life.

I've lost count of how many people who have had covid have said that recovery takes about six months.

Why would people even test after being isolated. You’ve done your duty get the fuck on with it. When I tested positive last February I done 9 days and just went straight back to work.

Re: PCR positive results after isolation
stowie, that was my question, are you required to get tested after 10 days of self isolation? I see conflicting info all over the place.

Re: PCR positive results after isolation
PCR can detect the presence of dead virus, so of course can come back positive after infection (I think for 3 moths is the stated time frame).

Stubbo and master correct
I had someone from council checking up on me when l had covid and he advised me to avoid PCR tests for next 3 months as could show up positive

I'm not making that link, but I have noticed that people who write blogs about how their lives are on hold because of things like ME and now Long Covid, tend to do so from the comfort of their weekend homes in the Cotswolds, not from their bedsits in Grimsby.....

I have no doubt you are suffering with health issues after having Covid, but you are also getting old and have referred to numerous other ailments and pre-existing conditions in the past so its more likely to hang around for longer?

Re: PCR positive results after isolation
After 10 days leave isolation you're fine. Don't need any test.

PCR will continue to detect inactive viral debris. If you must test Rapid is fine.

it's for Foreign travel. Some places require PCR Negative test even though you may well test negative from LFT.
